Mary’s Story
The Healing Walks Foundation has been inspired by a story of a
local elderly woman, “Mary”, living on a fixed income, who had taken $100 cash each month and used it to help
someone else in her neighborhood. She would buy groceries or clothes for a family in need and leave them at their door step
anonymously, along with other acts of modest kindness to minimize their challenge.
When she learned that she had
cancer and a finite time to continue her good deeds, she finally confided in her friend, “Bill”, what she had
been doing for so long, only in the hopes that this gentleman would continue her work. On June 15th,
“Bill”, presented $100 in cash to The Healing Walks Foundation in honor of “Mary”. It
is our sincere intention to continue “Mary’s” selfless acts and assist our neighbors when they are challenged
financially due to a catastrophic illness.
