The
Healing Walks Foundation is unique as it is the
only 501(c) 3 charity designed to impart self-empowerment practices
and
financial assistance to
local families who are unable to meet their monetary obligations
due to critical illness.
The foundation holds several fund raising events each year including group Healing Walks and Runs where participants reflect on positive resolutions to their situations rather than on disease or illness.
Medical studies have concluded that it is practically impossible to focus
on healing when patients are faced with financial issues directly related to that illness. We know there are families
who simply cannot afford medication and other families who are overwhelmed by the loss of a wage earner’s income and
now face mounting medical bills.
This is happening in our community and it our responsibility
to step up and provide whatever assistance is necessary –
no matter how difficult our own situations may be.
Our recipients remain anonymous however, we can disclose that we have provided
funding for meals, a dream wish of a terminally ill child,
living provisions for single parent families,
and assistance for out-of-pocket expenses for a
family where both adults were laid off
while battling a breast cancer diagnosis.
We continue to instill our
motto… “It's Reasonable to Believe...”
